We are seeking a Chief Legal Officer (CLO) to lead the organization’s global legal strategy and operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the board of directors, the CLO will serve as the principal legal advisor, overseeing corporate governance, regulatory compliance, litigation, intellectual property, and strategic transactions.

This role will play a critical part in shaping the organization’s risk posture, enabling global expansion, and ensuring that legal frameworks support long-term business objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive global legal strategy aligned with corporate growth, innovation, and risk management objectives.

• Serve as the primary legal advisor to the CEO, executive leadership team, and board of directors.

• Oversee all legal functions, including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, litigation, intellectual property, and commercial contracts.

• Lead legal aspects of mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.

• Ensure compliance with global regulatory frameworks, including data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), cybersecurity regulations, and international trade laws.

• Manage enterprise risk through proactive legal oversight, policy development, and governance frameworks.

• Oversee global contract management, ensuring alignment with business objectives and legal standards.

• Lead dispute resolution and litigation strategy, working with external counsel and internal stakeholders.

• Advise on intellectual property strategy, including patents, trademarks, and licensing agreements.

• Partner with compliance and ethics teams to strengthen corporate governance and regulatory adherence.

• Manage relationships with external legal advisors, regulators, and industry bodies.

• Build and lead a high-performing global legal team across multiple regions.

• Provide executive-level reporting on legal risks, compliance status, and strategic initiatives.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

• Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

• 15–20+ years of progressive legal leadership experience, including in-house counsel and/or top-tier law firm experience.

• Proven experience in technology, SaaS, AI, or highly regulated global industries.

• Strong expertise in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and complex commercial transactions.

• Experience leading legal aspects of M&A, global expansion, and cross-border operations.

• Deep understanding of data privacy, cybersecurity, and intellectual property law.

• Experience working closely with executive leadership and boards of directors.

• Demonstrated ability to lead and scale global legal organizations.

• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.

Compensation & Benefits

Total Compensation Package: $420,000 – $550,000
