About the Role

In global enterprises, inventory is not simply a balance-sheet line item it is a strategic lever that directly impacts cash flow, service levels, operational resilience, and customer experience. We are seeking a Director of Inventory Control to lead inventory strategy across a complex, multi-site supply chain supporting manufacturing, distribution, and customer fulfillment at scale.

This role is designed for a leader who can move beyond transactional inventory management to architect a predictive, data-driven inventory operating model. You will oversee inventory governance across plants, distribution centers, and regional hubs, ensuring optimal stock positioning while balancing working capital efficiency, service reliability, and risk mitigation.

Partnering closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Procurement, and Technology, the Director of Inventory Control will embed advanced analytics, AI-assisted forecasting, and real-time visibility into inventory decision-making. Your leadership will directly influence cost structure, availability, margin performance, and enterprise resilience in a volatile global supply environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise inventory strategy across manufacturing sites, distribution centers, and regional warehouses.

  • Establish inventory governance models, policies, and controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and accountability.

  • Optimize inventory levels to balance service performance, working capital, and cost efficiency.

  • Implement advanced demand forecasting, safety stock models, and replenishment strategies.

  • Oversee cycle counting, physical inventories, and reconciliation processes across global locations.

  • Drive adoption of inventory analytics, dashboards, and real-time visibility platforms.

  • Partner with Finance on inventory valuation, reserves, obsolescence management, and audit readiness.

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Operations to align inventory strategy with production and distribution plans.

  • Identify and mitigate inventory risk, including excess, slow-moving, obsolete, or constrained stock.

  • Lead, mentor, and scale inventory control teams across regions.


Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in inventory control, supply chain management, or operations leadership.

  • Proven experience managing inventory across large, multi-site or global environments.

  • Strong understanding of inventory valuation, controls, and financial reporting impacts.

  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems, WMS platforms, and advanced planning tools.

  • Demonstrated success in implementing data-driven inventory optimization initiatives.

  • Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to translate data into actionable decisions.

  • Experience supporting audits, compliance requirements, and internal controls.

  • Ability to influence senior leaders across operations, finance, and supply chain.

  • Provide insights for executive reviews on inventory health, risk exposure, and performance trends.

  • Support M&A integration, network expansions, and inventory harmonization initiatives.


Working Conditions

  • Base Salary: $255,000 – $317,000
