As the organization continues to expand its global footprint and product portfolio, the need for independent, strategic internal audit leadership has become critical. The Director of Internal Audit will play a central role in strengthening governance frameworks, enhancing risk management capabilities, and ensuring operational integrity across a complex, fast-evolving business.
This role extends beyond traditional audit execution; it is a strategic leadership position responsible for shaping the audit function as a value-adding partner to the business, providing insights that drive performance, mitigate risk, and support sustainable growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of a risk-based internal audit plan, aligned with enterprise risk priorities and regulatory expectations.
- Oversee audits across financial, operational, technology, and compliance domains, ensuring coverage of critical risk areas including cybersecurity, fraud prevention, and transaction integrity.
- Evaluate and strengthen internal controls in accordance with SOX requirements and global regulatory frameworks.
- Partner with business leaders to assess and improve risk management processes, governance structures, and control environments.
- Lead audit engagements from planning through reporting, delivering clear, actionable insights to executive leadership and the audit committee.
- Oversee IT and systems audits, including infrastructure, cloud environments, and data security controls.
- Monitor and report on emerging risks, including regulatory changes, fintech disruption, and evolving cyber threats.
- Drive continuous improvement in audit methodologies, incorporating data analytics, automation, and advanced audit tools.
- Manage relationships with external auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure alignment and audit readiness.
- Lead investigations into control failures, fraud risks, and compliance issues, ensuring appropriate remediation.
- Build and develop a high-performing audit team, fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and excellence.
Job Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CIA, or equivalent certification required.
- 12+ years of experience in internal audit, risk management, or public accounting, with significant exposure to financial services or fintech environments.
- Deep knowledge of SOX compliance, internal controls, and regulatory frameworks (PCI-DSS, AML/KYC, etc.).
- Strong experience in IT auditing, cybersecurity risk, and technology control environments.
- Proven track record leading complex audit programs in large, global organizations.
- Experience engaging with audit committees, executive leadership, and regulatory authorities.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial and operational data.
- Familiarity with audit tools, ERP systems, and data analytics platforms.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

- Support enterprise-wide initiatives, including digital transformation, system implementations, and global expansion.
- Align audit strategies with corporate objectives to ensure audit activities contribute to long-term value creation.
- Enhance the organization’s risk culture through education, communication, and proactive engagement.
Working Conditions
- Fully remote within the United States, with periodic travel (10–20%) for audits, leadership meetings, and regulatory interactions.
- Operates within a highly regulated, high-performance global environment.
- Requires the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines.

- Compensation Package: $290,000 – $400,000 (base salary + performance bonus + equity potential)
