About the Role

The IT Asset Manager is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of hardware and software assets, ensuring compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and contractual requirements. This role strengthens governance frameworks, enhances visibility into asset utilization, and enables data-driven decision-making across IT Operations, Finance, Security, and Procurement.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented technology operations professional who can combine analytical rigor, process discipline, and cross-functional leadership to optimize asset value while minimizing risk.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of IT assets including procurement, deployment, maintenance, optimization, and retirement.

Maintain asset inventories, CMDB accuracy, license repositories, configuration records, and hardware/software audit detail.

Ensure compliance with licensing agreements, contractual obligations, procurement policies, and regulatory requirements.

Partner with Finance to support cost analysis, budgeting, depreciation tracking, and asset financial reporting.

Lead the development and enforcement of IT Asset Management (ITAM) policies, standards, and governance practices.

Monitor asset utilization to identify optimization opportunities, underuse, risk exposure, or cost-saving potential.

Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams to ensure proper asset controls, lifecycle traceability, and audit readiness.

Engage with Procurement, Vendors, and IT Leaders to support contract renewals, vendor negotiations, and sourcing strategies.

Oversee tooling enhancements, automation opportunities, and data integrations that improve asset tracking accuracy.

Prepare and present asset performance dashboards, analytics, and insights to IT leadership.
Job Qualifications and Requirements

7+ years of experience in IT Asset Management, IT Operations, Technology Governance, or related fields.

Strong knowledge of ITAM frameworks, hardware/software lifecycle management, and asset governance best practices.

Experience managing enterprise licensing (SaaS, On-Prem, Cloud subscriptions) and vendor relationships.

Familiarity with ITSM platforms (ServiceNow, BMC, Ivanti, etc.) and CMDB structures.

Strong understanding of cybersecurity controls, audit requirements, and compliance frameworks.

Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, or a related field; certifications such as ITIL, CSAM, or CHAMP preferred.

Excellent communication skills with experience working in cross-functional environments.

Working Conditions

Remote-first role based within the United States with limited travel for leadership meetings, vendor sessions, or onsite inventory reviews.
